We've started an Election 2008 page on our Web site where we'll post all local election news as well as the latest national election stories from the Associated Press. You can find it under Web Extras on our home page.

The News-Gazette staff will be writing local election previews soon, and we'll post those stories as well as biographical information about the candidates. We'll also post stories about candidates' appearances and rallies, fundraisers and News-Gazette editorial endorsements.

We'll be able to post many more wire stories on the national elections than we'll have room to print in the newspaper, and we'll post stories as they develop during the day. Besides breaking news stories, we'll include stories about candidates' stands on the issues and a link to PolitiFact.com, a Web site that weighs the truth of the presidential and vice presidential candidates' campaign claims.

There are other election resources as well, including links to local and national candidates'  and county clerks' Web sites, and other national election Web sites such as FactCheck, Politico, the Federal Election Commission and Project Vote Smart.

We hope you find it useful.

I find it a little annoying when people tend to act like the only election that matters happens every four years. In my voting district there are over twenty different things to vote on this year! Everything's important, from the drain commissioner to the local judges to the board of education to the president
