State needs tax hike for vital social services
The legislative leaders and our governor must pass a fair, full and humane state budget. Illinois needs a tax increase to support vital social services. There is no way we can cut our way to fill a budget hole of $8.5 billion.
Cutting human services and other vital programs by 50 percent or more will result in massive job losses. Instead of helping others and contributing to the economy, these individuals will be collecting unemployment insurance and public aid.
