Lack of gratitude at Worker House

Judging by a June 22 article, either The News-Gazette prefers to interview and quote whiners for its stories or there is a disturbing lack of gratitude and a galling sense of entitlement at the local Catholic "Worker" House.

On one side, the handful of women and children who are allowed to live at the house are apparently so offended by the many homeless men who are afforded only a free meal that they either leave or go upstairs during lunch. On the other side, those who have been provided with a free daily meal for years cannot now provide for themselves one day per week but have plenty of time to protest the change. In the middle is the house's steering committee, which would rather give its select residents a quiet Sunday than let its willing volunteers feed the hungry masses.
