'51st and failing' cannot continue
Once again, the politics in Illinois bewilders me to the point of exhaustion. Last year, we had a bumbling idiot and clashing egos in our Legislature that threatened to collapse services to the most vulnerable of Illinois citizens, our disabled and mentally ill. We are now at this crossroad again. And why? Because our new governor says that we "inherited" Blagojevich's shortfall budgeting woes.
And yes, again, Democrats and Republicans can't seem to come together in order to agree how best to serve individuals with disabilities. Ignore these individuals now, honorable representatives, senators, and Gov. Quinn – and watch the problems multiply tenfold down the road.
