Board member's absences add up
Ron Bensyl misrepresents the facts when he claims to have attended 9 of 14 county board meetings in 2008. If you look at the county Web site you will see that in 2008 Bensyl was absent on: 1 /24, 3/27, 7/24, 9/18, 12/18, he showed up for the last few minutes on 2/21 and 5/22. Showing up the last few minutes to get his name on the roster hardly qualifies as representing his district, therefore I do not consider that as being in attendance. The facts are that Bensyl was absent for 7 of the 12 regular county board meetings last year, Bensyl was equally absent from his assignment to the Highways committee, attending 4 of 10 meetings.
As far as "smearing" someone, I would like to remind Bensyl that he is a public official and that it is the right and responsibility of every citizen to question the actions of our public officials while on the job. If Bensyl does not like public scrutiny then he does have the right to resign and never return to public office.
