Voters need to know issues, candidates
Congratulations to Darryl Maple of Fisher for his letter to the editor, (Our leaders protect the big institutions) dated June 15, 2009, in The News-Gazette. He really hit the nail on the head.
I would like to add that virtually all of the elected politicians, both parties, federal, state and local, prostitute themselves to the "big institutions" for money, power and personal favors. Until all of the voters understand that virtually all of their innocent looking and "holier than thou" talking elected officials are on the take and hold them to a higher standard through the ballot box, making elections less of a popularity contest by understanding the issues and voting, our country will continue to be run in the sleazy manner it is right now.
